The close bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore continue to be strengthened through cooperation in various fields including trade, social, people-to-people relations and exchange of visits. The matter was emphasised by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative when receiving a Courtesy Call from His Excellency Yip Wei Kiat, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam. The Courtesy Call was held at the Dewan Majlis Building, Jalan Dewan Majlis.

During the visit, both parties also touched upon the 50th anniversary celebration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which reflects the close and strong relationship that has long existed between the two countries. The discussions also touched on the importance of inter-parliamentary relations in understanding current challenges and exchanging views on issues of mutual interest. Also present was Datin Paduka Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini Binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.
